SRS not turning off with VIDA and DiCE

Post by gnalan »

I've tried multiple times to turn off the SRS light, and "SRS-Airbag service urgent" message, using offline VIDA and genuine DiCE. I can't get it to turn off. Is this something that only the dealer can do?

Since I still need to get the steering wheel airbag replaced under the recall, will I be charged for them to turn it off? Will they even touch it if it's on without wanting to charge me to turn it off?

Possibly it can't be cleared if it requires a repair to the SRS system first.

I just finished the repair. Old SIPS wiring was cut, so I replaced the SIPS with one with a good solid wiring harness.

Codes that showed red lights with the old SIPS: SRS-0034, SRS-00D5, SRS-0105. Same codes after replacement show all three with green lights in VIDA.

SRS codes are not cleared, they stored perpetually, just the non-active bit is set. As you may already figured out, when SRS runs out of space, the active codes can't be marked inactive anymore. Volvo calls for a brand new SRS module, apparently in exchange of your first born.

Any way of fixing it other than a new module?

Read EEPROM/FLASH, erase all the stored codes, write it back. I don't know how it is done exactly, but people do it.
