Bosch Alternator frankestein?

Post by Davidib »

I have the opportunity to buy a 140A Bosch AL0854X for a really good price because of a customer that backed out. Only issue is, it's made for 05+ cars with the ECU controlled voltage regulator... If I remove that ecu controlled voltage regulator and install my original 140A self regulating bosch voltage regulator, would I technically make a AL0820X Frankenstein (140A for 04 and under)? Would that cause any issues? I do not see any other differences when it comes to specs.

Will not cause any issues (besides that Bosch rebuild can fail sooner than you expect).
