98 V70 Turbo - Crank but no start

It's leaking where the pipes enter the thermostat. One of the hose is starting to leak (replaced the other a few years ago), so I did the lazy thing and grabbed the whole thermostat/hose assembly from the donor car I'll check the clamp straightness on the bench if I want to drop an engine back into the C70

Once I was done with that and a few other things, I started the car for more than a few seconds and noticed it was running like shit.
Checked a few thing, started thinking it was running on 4, went to unplug the first spark plug wire and it felt easy, very easy... Welp that's a new one !


Dropped a spare plug in there and now it's running great again !

Wow, that's weird!

It may have been dropped at some point and the ceramic is easily cracked. Been many years but had a brand new Bosch plug that was cracked when removed out of a sealed box. Rare, but happens. Bad luck for that to happen when you were already working on your challenges!

I found some pictures of the oil cooler thermostat issue I had. Not great pictures but will give you and idea of the issue:

These were brand new 2nd set of oil cooler pipe seals fitted by the dealer. They were shredded by hard old oil deposits

Not a great picture, but you can see the hardened ring of old oil that was shredding the new seals.

I removed the oil thermostat and carefully scrapped the old oil deposits out with a sharp metal edge taking care to not score the seats for the seals.

Also reversed the clamp after straightening with a hammer.
