Re: coolant leak??
The 3.2 uses the Euro blue coolant, known as G48 spec. Zerex G48, Zerex Euro, Peak Euro, are some of the types you can usually find at local stores.

For where you live 50:50 Coolant to distilled water (unless you purchase coolant that is already 50:50)
Take a look at this blog
https://blog.fcpeuro.com/how-to-pick-th ... r-your-car
The G11 Glysantin G48 (HOAT, Silicates) (VW G11, Volvo, BMW, Mercedes) is an older technology.
I have upgraded my coolant systems to
Glysantin GG40 ("Si-OAT" - hybrid organic acid technology)(VW G13)
You can get if from VW or Audi just ask for G13 or you can get it from Pentosin --> Pentofrost E
The G11 isn't compatible with G12
The G11 is compatible with G12+
The G11 is compatible with G12++
The G11 is compatible with G13
Good luck
Paul

Did this job today.
You were all right, the thermostat WAS broken...terrible design. The plastic end of the hose was also broken just as you all suggested it would be...it is amazing it did not just pop out from coolant pressure on the freeway.
Terrible job to replace the thermostat under the manifold, but got it done and it is all good now. thanks!

Well done!!!
The 3.2 is a really great engine but it needs care and attention.
Now that you have completed Letter A
Typical repairs for high mileage 3.2
A) Thermostat – replaced mine at 10 years (also replaced two coolant hoses)
Here is the complete list
https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic32504.html
I need to add the purge valve to the list of typical repairs (I know you replaced yours)
Good luck

Thanks. It is a great engine and, with care, so is the transmission unlike past aisin iterations.
I've done it all except for the serpentine belt, idler pulleys, water pump job...been putting that one off bigtime and may actually pay to have it done. I even decided not to do it when I replaced the AC compressor b/c it looks so awful
