P80 AWD rear panhard suspension rod stay and hardware 9200005 and 9157297

Post by abscate »

Thread to discuss these guys found on AWD, XC70, R models,

The stays fit on either side with the nylon bushing inboard

If your look like this they need replacement

Documenting that the nylon bushing end goes into inside of the suspension- this makes sense as the hard end of the wheel spindle should be rigid, and the movement inboard is thus smaller and less wear.

There appear to be two part numbers. Little confusing text on the application

9157297 AWD except XC

9200005 for XC

Outboard attaches with a M12x 25 flange bolt, 17 mmhexhed
There is a large flat custom washer on this, from Tasca or Volvo only

Bolt 985053 or 949708
Washer 986396

Inboard is the adjustable toe in consisting of a long slotted eccentric bolt, a internal toothwasher, and a lock bolt

The bolt inserts from front, you have to turn the eccentric to clear the differential

The factory bolt uses a fancy hex boss at the top of the bolt with an internal hex washer that fits inthe boss.

The replacement bolt has the eccentric cast as one piece

Bolt 986933 …..this shows as NLA at Tasca….uh oh
Washer…

That will have to wait for later busy day today (hoist is being installed!!) and it will take some time to find it if I have it (I should have).

Do you need the rod? I may have a couple of spares.

I will need to look at the bolt as I may have that too somewhere...................! Do you know the spec of the bolt?

You can see I broke one removing it, a $25 dollar mistake. When I go to do the right side on this car, I will cut the nut off with a Dremel to
Preserve the NLA BOLT.

Both nuts and the slotted washers are still available and used in P2s so those should be around for a while.

Bolt fab idea. A M12x 100 bolt, then Dremel a channel length wise to receive two slotted washers. Chase threads. Tack weld head washer to shank or bolt head
