'96 850 Air Pump Replacement / Interchange Info Needed

Post by meatball1 »

I need to replace/repair my Air Pump and from what I've read, need to find a '96 or '97 850 suitable donor vehicle. Can anyone tell me either way if there are other years or models that may work for me?

BMW uses the same pump, similar year range. There's also a writeup here someplace about doing a transplant using parts from a similar VW motor.

Unless you can pick it up for under $50 I'd be very leery of using a junkyard motor. At least have them jumper it for you and prove it works with no weird noises.

I ran once for a year with a $15 air mattress inflater :)
