My '98, Old Blue, had a fresh-ish timing belt when I bought it, but it seems they cheaped out, either on the tensioner brand or skipped that part completely. The belt walked out over time, cut through the front of the cover, and eventually tore some teeth off. It sits under yonder Pin Oak now.

The new head job should be quick. Everything recently buttoned up, bolts should be easy to remove. Good luck! At the end of the day it’s just a car.

Well that really sucks abscate. After all that hard work getting it running again.

Easy to be smart after the event, but I recall posting a few years ago when I had to replace my steering pump to header tank hose I had an issue with it. Brand new Volvo part but it is I believe now possibly using the P2 hose after consolidation. Didn't matter how hard I tried I could not get it to fit where I was comfortable the accessory/serp. belt was not sitting too close for comfort. Eventually I had to cut I think it was 2" off the new hose so that it would naturally arc away from the belt. Stupid design and part consolidation from Volvo.

Like I said, easy to be smart after the event. Hopefully not beyond repair.

Neil.

Couple of bent valves , all the parts were fro. FCP so it will be a labor only job!!

All new nuts , bolts,, hardware so the fitments will be a breeze. The philosophy of being nice for the next jobber pays of really nicely, when you happen to be that guy

Cars can be easily repaired, especially by you. Be glad no bodily injure occurred, much harder to repair such things. A car is just a car 👍🏻

FCP will surely be surprised to see the bent valves coming back for warranty so soon. But hey, that's why we shop there. Good luck with the work.

Well, only if I happened to bend #3 and one of #2 valves.

Honestly , I’ll eat the valves. That will also let me play some chemistry set...

Earlier in my childhood I watched an Olde Fellow at a truck repair place cut the end off a big exhaust valve and throw the stem in the creek out back.
Not EPA approved, but quite an impressive explosion.

Can’t wait to share this American Innovation with Europe.

Took a big Volvo to work. Instead of 12 minutes plus parking of $12…

I got into a big box, talked with people about the day, while someone else drove. It cost me 75 cents total

I had to wait at a designated location so travel time was 17 minutes, so Im not sure this will catch on
