You're correct, I simplified my original reply, here's a bit more detail.
Up until the end of 2020, there was a £15 VAT & Duty free threshold on goods and many items got through without VAT despite being worth more than £15. Since 2021, everything gets VAT added so there's very little chance of not paying it.

1, There will almost certainly be VAT @20% to add to the price. When I've asked previously on Aliexpress it was doubtful that the sellers would add the VAT at source, so it will be added when it arrives.
2, If VAT is added on arrival, there's an admin fee to be paid to the delivery company. If that's Royal Mail, it was £8 last time I checked.

VAT & fees will take the price to £52 which is what I paid for my used VIDA clone, but still half what a new clone would cost.
