My 96 850 glt is having issues stalling. The car will run fine for a few miles then begin to run rough then stall. I wait 15 minutes then drive it a few miles to home. I have replaced the MAF (reset the parameters) spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires, checked for emission leaks and replaced hoses. It happens most when the air conditioner is on. I checked my alternator and discovered that it was putting out 12.78 volts. I am going to replace it but could this really be my issue? Any thoughts?
Thanks

Have you swapped out the Fuel pump relay or checked fuel pressure?
Neil.

You definitely have a dead alternator , or possibly a bad cable between alternator and battery. A weak battery can cause stalling

Drive the car for 30min and let it idle,do not turn the engine off.
First check voltage output directly on alternator.
Positive probe on b+ and negative probe on alternator housing.
Compare voltage output on battery terminals.
If battery terminals are shoving lower output than alternator...then your positive battery cable is bad and needs to be replaced.
Healthy charging system produce 13.8-14.2v at idle with headlights, radio and heater blower ON at 1st or 2nd speed.
Perform a voltage drop test if needed on both...positive & negative side.
