Why horribly modified? It's a 1958 Impala.
Strange incorrect tail lamps, and it nearly sits on the ground so it's lowered. We can't see the rest of the car. Undoubtedly more is modified. June

They're taillights from a 1959 Cadillac.

But what's the car behind him? (I don't know.)

Ford (DeTomaso) Pantera
Later version with the rubber bumper.

Fiat X1/9, can’t tell you the year.
Bumpers removed, aftermarket deck spoiler.

Just for further trivia, the Pantera has a north-south mid-engine 351 ci Ford “Cleveland” V8 with a 5 speed transaxle.

The X1/9 is a mid-engine transverse 1100 or 1300 cc four with a 5 speed transaxle. They are slow but fun to throw around. I’ve never even sat in a Pantera.

I thought the top one was a pre-Countach Lamborghini, say a mid/late 70s, but yes it's certainly a Pantera. The second I knew was a Fiat, but by the beard of Zeus there was no way I was going to remember "X1/9" as the model number. Fiat yes, X1/9 no.

That's algebra, not a car model. I think the Fiat marketing dept. was vacationing in Greece when it came time to name it.
