What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

Hi,

I drove it around town ha ha. I dont drive as much as i used to so it's a special occasion for me

Along the way though i saw a couple older Volvos. I really like the look of those. For some reason i like the 'boxy' look of those slightly older models, not sure what year they are, but they are really cool i think. I would guess they are v70's too because they are the station wagons. I kinda wish i had one of those, but the older model may mean more mechanical problems and availability of parts.
I would think Volvo would do well to make sure parts for older cars are still available and that would speak loudly to their longevity which would be good for sales i would think. I dont have any statistics on hand though.

I replaced my pedal position sensor. Old one showed intermittent ohm values. Bet it was also a cause of my lousy brakes. Car feels more secure to drive now

Got to use my new wheel cribs - Love them !
I needed to change my downpipe and exhaust, as well as the exhaust flange on the turbo, and these made the job much easier. I could spin around on the creeper without hitting any jack stands, and these actually bring the car up about 2" - 3" higher than my jack stands could at their very highest setting ( which I would never feel comfortable with ). I had the entire exhaust system out in about 30 min.
Since I only needed small 2 x 4 blocks, I was able to buy warped rejects from Home Depot for about $ 1 per 8ft stick. I made the cribs 2 piece, so I can raise the car 6" at a time per side. Ended up with apx 18" + clearance.

But of course 3" screws from both directions, whenever possible. Thought about glue, but I think that would be over kill, as most everything is downward force anyway.

Got the head off despite a work call that took some time and some proper heat (the cold garage floor has never been so welcoming )

Those don't look safe enough to me. Each wheel has all its weight on two 2x4s. I would feel much more comfortable having the front and rear be a solid stack of 2x4s to the ground to transfer that weight all the way down. Short pieces could be screwed in between the ends of the side pieces. Similar filler pieces probably aren't needed on the sides. Photoshop attached.
