"TOTALED?" Project 2000 S70 SE Base

After midnight so it means I will try to register this today & pull the codes to see if it needs an ABS Module.

Question: It's been awhile since the last 98 S70 T5 but will the OBDII show codes for the ABS or just have to interpret the Christmas tree lights in the dash?

Except for a quick wash and checking tire dates haven't done anything else. No noticeable dings but just a scuff on the side of front bumper and lower portion of rear bumper. Feels like someone had clay bar this as there was no grit after the really quick wash.

It depends on what you are reading the codes with. -98 is not supported by Vida, 99- is. Vida will read ABS issues, not sure about other testers. I believe my Autel 802 may though.

If it is an ABS module then you know who to contact.

The 3 main causes of ABS/TRACS warning lights and speedo dropping in/out are:

1) ABS module
2) ABS sensors at the wheels or their wires
3) Problems with, or damage to the reluctor rings.

I'll check my Autel specific ID tomorrow and post it.

When I had all those lights on on my 00 V70 SE it was caused by the ECU/TCU units having corroded contacts. Removing, carefully cleaning and re-installing a couple of times fixed it but then it did need to be cleared.

Check battery voltage, i had my 99t5 project throw all lights when a dead battery was present. Ran like a nut but the dead battery did not help.

Thanks Neil. Did the Autel showed the ECU/TCU throwing the codes or did you have to do some diag?

Thanks yanga001, I'll disconnect and do a full charge. Hope it didn't sit too long as the battery is fairly new.

That was before I had bought it unfortunately. I had the dealer diagnose it after I had identified the ABS module was causing some of the issues, but it did not fix them all. To clarify, once I swapped the ABS module for a rebuilt unit, there were still issues like the up arrow of death and engine check light. The dealer fixed that with the cleaning and re-seating of the TCU and ECU. In this case it was the TCU that was the culprit with corroded contacts.

Lights could be due to failing electrical portion of the ignition switch, though perhaps less likely if no running/cutout symptoms.

.

May have posted this before but had to work on some SticKey business. Really gummy, gooey and rubbing off. Used some dish washing soap and rubbed clean with paper towel. Sprayed with 97% rubbing alcohol and rub down again. Allowed to dry for a day or so and then brushed on.

The product is old so a bit thick rather than flow. Best just to turn it around and around till to takes shape and stick the key in a straw and let it stand upright in a cup to dry. Since it was old stuff and didn't brush on evenly, as soon as it was touchable I went ahead and tried to reshape it. Helped a little but it was best to just let it dry and it will shrink to fit. Will be loose and floppy while drying.
