Fuel pump for 2000 V70XC 9470674

Post by AKJeeper »

The fuel pump on my step daughter's 2000 V70XC has crapped out. Unfortunately we no longer live in the same state, so I've had her send her car to a local shop instead of doing the work myself. The shop reports that they can't source a new fuel pump assembly for this car, and it seems that FCP Euro has the part on indefinite backorder. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... wd-9470674

Does anyone have a good source to get this fuel pump? The other alternative I can think of (since the sending unit is still functional), is to disassemble the fuel pump/sender assembly and replace just the electric pump by itself. If I go this route, is the pump available, and can anyone give me a confirmed brand/part number for the pump itself?

The rest of the car is in pretty good shape, and has served my step daughter quite well. I'd hate to get rid of it over a relatively minor issue.

Thanks in advance!

The pump motor is a Walbro GRJ 235 and is also no longer available. Last seen in about 2020

There are afterMarket replacements at the usual suspect places. I’ve had to order 5 to get 2 working units

Everybody's friend Robert just did an aftermarket pump on his T5R, don't know if this will help your remote situation.

Rock Auto shows a couple,
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/vol ... +pump,6256

Some folks have used Delphi before,

Assembly

And as usual, avoid everything and anything that starts with URO...

(Might be an Oops, I just noticed it's an XC, I had looked up one for my car...)

You can try these guys..... supposed to be an official distributor.

https://walbrofuelpumps.com/

They have a listing for my 96.

Also https://www.highflowfuel.com/ has Walbro/TI kits that seem to be priced well.

I'm kinda looking a bit since I've noticed my car isn't wanting to start quite as easily after it sits for hours. I've done no trouble shooting yet, Though.

The first link does not include the AWD cars, only FWD.

From your 2nd link they have this listed:

https://www.highflowfuel.com/product-re ... 70~zp_2-4l

which would appear to be correct. My only comment is that they list it as fitting 1997-2007 cars. 1997-98 cars ran at a lower fuel pressure than 99- which may be an issue so anyone trying this may want to talk to them first to make sure this is correct.

Thanks,

Neil.

The above link is a more expensive pump, about $110, but it’s actually a Walbro design

Ebay guy sent me two replacements for the ones that were dead. I was $10 into them.

The TI pumps above were more expensive but were assembled with the snout all good to go, no fitment issues. $110 but I’m sure feeling better about that with all that Labour
