Hi
I got steel wheels, but they are 25mm offset from a Volvo 940
I have a 1998 Volvo v70
I hear these are 40mm offset or 43mm offset.
Question, are the offset negative or positive?
Which way, from the centerline, is negative?
So, -43 mm is that toward the engine (inside) or toward the fender lip (outside)?
Basically can I put these steel wheels on my v70?
I'm thinking 20mm or 15mm universal spacers.
Will that work, and if not how can I make it work?
Thanks
Big Al

What it means is if you imagine a center line down the middle of the rim looking at it side on, how far from that center does the face of the rim sit where it touches the brake rotor. For our Volvos 0mm means the mounting face is in the middle of the rim, 20mm means it sits 20mm outward toward the outside of the rim. This means the rim moves 20mm further in from the fender lip. P80 Volvos typically have around 43mm from the center so they sit even further in. P2 Volvos typically have 49mm so they go even further in from the fender lip.
So if you want the steelies to sit in the same position as a typical P80 rim you would need a 23mm spacer to sit the rim in the same spot as your current rims.
At least from what I have found a 92 Volvo 940 has the same center bore of 65.1mm and lug bolt spacing of 5 x 108mm.
Neil.

Ok cool. So sounds like with the proper spacers, they will fit.
So, need spacers (size to be determined)
And probably need new lug bolts or lug nuts? Will research this more, and may pull a wheel and try to fit one of the steelies and see what happens.
Question ...
On this website:. https://www.willtheyfit.com/
They talk about poke and inset. What's that?
and arch gap loss. (Is this the space between the top of the tire, and the start of the fender?)
What are those things?
Thanks
Al

The issue is that the 940 is RWD, and the P80 is FWD. FWD cars typically mount their wheels much further towards the face of the rim. A 23mm spacer is a very thick spacer. You'd really need a spacer that actually bolts on, and then allows for the wheel to bolt to it. Finding on that would accommodate our lug bolts might be difficult. If it were me, I think I'd rather find rims that didn't require a thick spacer.

Ok I will search wheel spacers with bolts.
When I got these steelies, I didn't check the fwd and rwd stuff
The ad did say RWD , but I didn't see that until I was loading them up, and then saw the 25 stamped on the rim
Didn't think it would be that much work.
Anyone wanna trade RWD steelies for FWD steelies?

Now that I've slept, I realize what I wrote doesn't follow what you're describing. The RWD rim should already be out too far on the FWD car. Have you test fitted the new rims yet?

FWD wheels have the mounting face more towards the outside of the wheel than RWD, so RWD on a FWD volvo will stick out more
For reference, this is my V70 on ET30 6.5" wide 16" steelies with 205 55 tires. Just fits without rubbing on anything, but it's close.

Oh. Yeah I wasn't sure that's why I asked on here.
But no harm no foul, I didn't order anything yet.
No I didn't do a test for yet, but I can do that next week! Hopefully they will just make it, only one way to find out! Yay , hope it works!

HEY GOUPIL,
That's good news! So mayyyyybe .....
My ET 25 (you have ET 30s, so that stick OUT more, right?)
I need to learn how ET 25 and ET 30
or -ET25 or -ET30 references the centerline or the outer edge of the rim...or the inner edge of the rim.
I gotta learn this stuff. Any links to educate myself?
So GOUPIL, your tires/rims just barely fit at ET30, so I should have extra space at ET25 correct?
thanks again! This just might work LOL
