Has anyone uses 303 protectant on their car rubber parts?

I was looking for something to preserve the CV boots on spare axles I have with currently good boots while in storage.

I saw this product (WARNING: Packaging says it is a carcinogenic) that claims with annual use to protect all rubber parts as well as vinyl and other stuff on cars.

I have bought some to try and will let you know how it goes (will use paint mask!)

I pulled these 2 front axles from a 2000 S70 AWD GLT/LPT and from what I can find these will fit my 'R'.

The overall condition of these axles is amazing as the inner boots would make it appear these may be the original as the CV GKN boots are dated 1997! Outer replaced at some point recently.

The carrier bearing may need replaced as it is not smooth but not terrible. I have a couple of new ones and there is some signs of wear on the inner GKN boots but they are still sound. Outers are made by?? No one seems to lay claim to those as no markings.

I plan to store these, and may take advantage of this weekends Labor Day sales and order a new set of boots anyway (just in case!), but plan to coat them with the 303 for storage and do similar to others I have including rear AWD shafts.

The product works alright when used in a dry area. Since it's water based I haven't noticed it to hold up for after water/rain touches it. You're likely better off using some grease or just keeping things clean.

report on your results though in the next couple weeks...

Thanks for the input.

As my plan is really only for storage purposes to try to prevent dry rot in my garage. So hoping I may never need them, but as they are OE axles and are in good shape I am stocking up on used parts, especially where they are AWD P80 specific.

Reading reviews on Amazon, one guy used it for his tire walls and loved it. Says 4 months later still looked like the day he put it on. Not sure if that is good or bad..............?!

I will hover, let you know what they look like when coated and allowed to dry for maybe a week and post back. Stuff is supposed to arrive tomorrow.

I used to store parts at home too. Im now spending time throwing out all junk I’ve been hoarding to make more room. There are plenty of junk yards around here.

In civilized Alberta I wouldn’t worry about dry rot in a cool and dry garage too much. Just some wipe with tire conditioner , or tyre conditioner if you can find it.
