P80 AWD Pure Unobtanium!

Post by scot850 »

If you are in a junkyard and there are P80 AWD cars there, please try to remove these from the rear parking brake cables by the rear dust shield. They can be removed with some penetrating oil and a large screwdriver behind the outer lip on the rear as (not) seen in the pictures as you are looking at the front face.

For AWD P80 owners these are unobtanium/NLA now and have been for about 5-6 years. They are also used on FWD Volvos back to the 240 as well and up to the 960/S90 if I recall correctly.

It only takes a few minutes!

Appreciate that guys!

I always pull these if I see AWD's in the yards. This has already helped out one owner!

Those look to be a fairly common clip that is available aftermarket. They're used on all of the Fords that I have, and I've bought generics from parts suppliers.

If someone can identify a suitable replacement then that would be great. I have tried 3 or 4 and although they basically look the same they are dimensionally different. They have to be a snug fit for the parking brake cable as it takes a fair amount of force compared to the one you show which is just for location.

I have a brand new one somewhere and I will take a picture and the dimensions and post back here soon.

Thanks,

Neil.

The two I ruined due to muck of ages getting them off are on the right.
