Good call!

Twin-cam Lotus 4 laid on its side to fit under the hood - which led to oiling problems and leaks on the exhaust. Stromburg carbs.

It was supposed to be a successor to the great Austin-Healey 3000, which lasted to ‘67. But they didn’t have a big development budget, they had some rust and reliability issues, and unlucky timing led to huge US bumpers hung off both ends.

But it was pretty fun to drive this weekend. Sketchy brakes, stiff notchy shifter, really stiff clutch that engages almost on the floor, so downshifts are barely do-able.

But free! Rare hardtop! Rust in the rockers and floors! It was only here 20 minutes and I had several big oil drips!

I think really nice ones go for low teens, so it’s not worth much. It has some TR-6 in the rear fenders and deck.

He tried to say no, a couple of times. The guy insisted. Maybe because of my friends history of barely drivable British roadsters...MG-TD, Lotus Elan with busted fiberglass, Lotus 7 with no top.....

Not sure what he’s going to do with it. It’s barely drivable.

Only 10,503 were ever made. I'll take it if he doesn't want it...

Did you hear the one about the guy that peeked into a Land Rover and asked the owner "How can you tell one switch from another at night? They all look the same. " - "He replied, "It does not matter which one you use, nothing happens!"
The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
Lucas - Inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas - Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three position Lucas switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
The Original Anti-Theft Device - Lucas Electrics.
Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices
Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
"I have had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never had any trou..."
If Lucas made guns, wars would not start.
A friend of mine told everybody that he never had any electric problems with his Lucas equipment. Today he lives in the countryside, in a large manor with lots of friendly servants around him and an occasional ice cold shower...
Back in the 70's, Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which did not suck.
Q: Why do the British drink warm beer? A: Because Lucas makes their refrigerators!
Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone. Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb. Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: Check the position of the stars, kill a chicken, and walk three times clockwise around your car chanting: " Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.."

Italian engineer Antonio Meucci and German inventor Philipp Reis independently invented telephone-like devices that achieved the key breakthrough of turning sound into electric signals over a decade before Bell. Antonio Meucci had his idea and prototype stolen and at a office Bell worked at.

Light bulbs had been around for over 100 years before Thomas Edison but they did not last long enough to be commercially viable. Thomas Edison's company was the first one to come up with a light bulb that was commercially viable he did not invent the light bulb. Thomas Edison was not a engineer or a scientist. He was a business owner who took all the glory his hired help accomplished.
