Earlier today my 02 V70 started running almost like it wasn't firing on all cylinders. Even at idle, the engine is clearly loping. The car will drive but it lacks power. On any sort of incline it will struggle and the CEL will flash until I'm no longer calling for power at which time it extinguishes itself. I've been hearing some "muffler" noise that I arrtibuted to a heat shield. I'm now thinking maybe I have a plugged catalytic converter? Any other ideas?

Possibly. They may be misfire codes...some OBD-II systems momentarily illuminate the MIL to indicate a misfire. Otherwise, it could be that the ECU considers them 'intermittent' codes.MikeChick wrote:Thanks, does the fact that the CEL doesn't stay illuminated tell me anything?
