How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Project 2005 GS430

"How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder."

I couldn't find the non-Volvo car section so I thought it might be okay to post the "and turn harder" here.

Purchased the 2005 GS430 with 240K plus miles from CoPart in March. Car either took flight, down a ravine or 4 wheeling up onto a curb or combination there off. Car was wet from rain in CoPart's photos so looked okay except for one flat tire. Bid and had them delivered. WOW, buyers remorse as soon as the tow truck arrived!

Not sure why besides the above but compared with the 03 GS300 this car floated and had number center steering feel besides wallow on the road. This with the lower profile 17 vs 16 on the GS300. Could be the V8?

1) Sheet metal around sunroof twisted, paint crack and rusting already. 2) Front strut mount distance about an inch narrow in between so had a difficult time installing upper strut brace, which also requires the hood to be pushed against the bar to close. 3) Maxed out front camber when I did the 4 wheel alignment. Still a little more negative camber than I like. 4) Four bent strut / shocks. 5) 2 bent rear lower control arms. 6) Belly pan gone and oil pan heavily smashed / dented but thank God not leaking. 7) One popped tire from I assume hitting something at a right angle. 8.) Both front fender liner are loose with plastic plugs gone. 9) Hood heavily pitted and rusting. 10) Front inner and outer tie rods worn and frozen.

Replaced all bent parts and did a 4 wheel alignment and added rear sway bar and 2 strut bars. Solid as a rock and basically no lean in the corner. Research found the previous owner had purchase the Conti exclusive to Discount Tire were almost 2 years old but basically new. She had the Road Hazard Warranty which Discount honored and transferred into my name. One tire free under warranty, purchased another so one end has 2 new tires and the other newer went to the full size spare. Son took a trip to VA and said it was very smooth, comfortable and stable.

The rear sway bar eliminated the plow / understeer of the heavy front end due to the V8.
