2006 C70 T5 engine ID

Post by cameoman1990 »

I am confused on engine block identification. I am working on a 2006 C70 T5. From what information I can find the only engine available for this car was the 2.5 T5 and should be a B5254T3. The engine block is stamped

B5254T
3945881

Does the 3 in the serial number make it a B5254T3 or has someone replaced the engine?

Not necessarily. If you are looking at the sticker on the timing cover, they just put B5254T and not that last digit. Thus, absence of the last digit is not conclusive.

Also, I did some searching on the "394881" number, and couldn't conclusively tie it to anything in particular. It doesn't come up as a Volvo part number. Could it be the engine serial number?

The number after the T is the revision number. The revision number does not always make it to the sticker or the block. Sometimes the only difference between revisions is accessories.

The 6&7 digits in the VIN number is the engine. 68 = B5254T3.
