Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

2004 S80 2.9T

This is crazy…. My wife filled the tank up at Costco. Drove maybe 15 miles and out of the blue the check engine light started flashing engine started to misfire. I told her to get it home asap.
Ran my iCarsoft scanner and it spit out 3553, 3533 & 3503 I called Costco to check on the fuel step one. Pulled each fuel injector each cylinder stumbled step 2. Removed the twin turbo air tube that’s fun. Removed the head cover and started to inspect the coils and plug condition. Someone stuffed in $2.50 Champion spark plugs WTH. The gap was set at 50 all were burning fine except cyl #4 see pic. Someone replaced the coil with a POS. Got that sorted out with a used BOSCH one.
Buttoned her back up started the engine. Better but not solved. Ran the scanner again codes 3553 & 3503 are still there. I replaced the #5 coil pack and still same code. I’m stuck. Any help would be appreated🤔

.
Pull each plug coil and see if it runs worse till you find the one does not affect the roughness.

Could be tough with those charge tubes running over the head. I see you had one of these T6 nightmares.

May require a bit of work to pull it off and on. Parked at friend's house so can't look but can the wire be disconnected at the other end rather than pull the coil?

I was not paying attention to the leak as my Son had the car and was not living at home. Love the car, ran exceptionally well with crisp and snap shifts after the Transgo Shift Kit installation. Am considering having the transmission repaired then selling it but will be tempted to keep it  .

Same problem I’m having with the GM transmission. Install the same trans kit. Changed the filter and dumped in 2.5 gal of trans fluid. Better but not perfect only time will tell. Volvo knows they have a problem with these units and should recall them.
Hell got off the subject it’s a project R&R those damn tubes🤣. So the #2 coil pack was junk also. Replaced it and it’s running smooth🥃. Got to rest my back then I’ll button her up. Disappointed my iCarsoft scanner didn’t pinpoint the proper shorted coil🤨
Thanks for the tip👍🏼
