07 S60 R…terrible issue

Post by Browntaa472 »

car idles smooth and then will idle rough sometimes, it varies when hot or cold, terrible acceleration, loss of boost, backfires like crazy, at idle sometimes the boost gauge reads 0 psi when it’s supposed to be ~21 psi at idle…when I go into boost it tops out at 6 psi, should be at 16-17 psi

It sounds like you have a vacuum leak. I think the 2.5T only supposed get about 8psi of boost.. not familiar with R models.

Much of my time during the job is spent hauling things up and down the stairs to the basement or in and out of the storage shed, or running back downstairs when I realize I need something else,or taking a break from standing out in the sun,or using flashlights or work lamps when it gets dark.

Sounds like the boost controller could be going bad or a vacuum leak or both.. you need a smoker (leak detector)

Along those lines this sounds a lot like an air induction pathway leak - check the big fat boost hoses for tears and where they clamp to the piping. The one up by the radiator often gets mushy with oil first.
