The new Nissens (p/n 8603770) radiator from FCP arrived... they are quick to ship and deliver. Waiting on Tasca to source and ship some of the other parts I know I'll need from the last time I did this repair... clips, ductwork, hoses, bushings.

Make sure you move the rubber bushings over ftom old to new. They usually don’t ship with them. Can be fabbed if missing

Thanks for the heads up. I will need to make at least one of them to replace the one that went missing when the support tab broke.

Installed the new Nissens radiator. Fit was excellent. The metal oil line fittings were tight as received and did not need tightening.

Installation went smoothly, followed the step-by-step I put together a few years ago viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55629
Luckily I had a set of the rubber bushings and metal collars that I bought from Waltrip Volvo about 9 years ago, still in the blue bags.
No leaks so far, still need to take the car for a run to get the coolant system to do its traditional 1 liter burp/gulp of coolant so I can top it up.

It is so frustrating seeing the underside of an old Volvo with no rust or rusty fixings! :D

Looks good and always helps when someone took the time to do a how to for us all! Thanks for that.

Glad to contribute. When I came across this site in 2003 or 2004, it was an eye opener for me... helped me learn and take on jobs I'd been scared to tackle such as installing new brake pads. Got confidence and took on more complicated jobs like replacing the timing belt and water pump.
Regarding the rust issue, you can see that I paid my dues years ago on my Saab 99's, 900 and Volvo 240 which I drove until key parts of them rotted away into red or black crumbly iron flakes or dust. Glad to have had an opportunity to get down to North Carolina.

No rust and somewhere where they don't throw small stones on the road for grip 6 months of the year. The whole cars get peppered with stone chips and chipped or cracked windshields. No need for winter tires either. Tough break for sure! I also had a rusty Saab 900 that rotted away and that was about 25 years ago when it was only 13 years old. Also blew the head gasket on the way home from the auction where it was purchased!

Yes, the south is blessed not to have rust, but the paint and interior is baked by all the sun. Pick your location and take your pain.

Assuming you can find them, I'd rather remove and fit a used seat cover or dash top than deal with rust!
