Here are the special hardware associated with this. No cheating here on replacements

I might be using fire foxes’ classic order strategy for these

Are -316 and -868 single use ? I was planning on threadlock anyway when I finally get around to the 99 subframe, but wonder if I should toss those parts for new ?

Or for less than the cost of three of those M8 distortion lock nuts ("-868") perhaps a pack of 25 for $8.57 from McMaster-Carr, part number 3528N12. They are zinc plated, presumably that's the same as the factory finish? Share them with your friends doing P80 rack work, it's a small club anyway!

Add them to your order when you buy the stainless steel acorn nuts (pack of 20, part number 94000A038 for $5.10) and partner M6 SS washers (pack of 100, part number 93475A250 for $5.40), for all of the license plate holders in your fleet. Actually I think I bought the acorn nuts cheaper, on eBay. It's nice not to have them rusting out every few years.

Take the universal joint off my old V70. I replaced it with a Volvo brand one in 12/2018, 2k miles ago. I installed parts:
U-joint - 9485812
U-joint screw - 985316 and nut - 985868

I believe the joint alone was about $80.

Notes from the job. Don't make this same silly mistake:
When removing the old u-joint, I foolishly didn't fully remove its bolt, then tried to hammer it out from below. Since the bolt passes through the steering rack shaft, the u-joint didn't move and I seriously stressed the steering rack. With the bolt removed, the u-joint came off with a few taps. I hope that I didn't ruin the rack.

That rack was new, installed by the dealership in 2015. I'm annoyed that I may have stressed it.
