Just prolonging the seal a bit till I can get to it. Seal is neither brittle nor soft. Plastic is from Swepco oil container. Didn't want to bend the tabs.

Don't ask me how I snapped it off. For around $7 this seems like a good fix but I believe Volvo intentionally made it so it's a break away.

Either way, potentially lose the whole door or straighten some sheet metal and or fuel door depending how and where it's snagged?

Nice fix! The hinge is fairly cheap from Volvo, and there is an aftermarket version I think IPD sells. The different is the OE one has a hook to hold the cap retaining chord that the aftermarket one does not have.

So many things but needed to tackle this. Was really in a hurry so the paint was really sloppy with runs and lint.

Even though the light was pretty bright the reflector coating was definitely bad. Imagine what the dim one on the driver's looks like inside.

I was going to power wash the the filter and use it again on the next change

I have never been patient with spray paint so had to sand the primer of runs. Painted when it was windy outdoors so lot of little debris also. The reflection was better on my Son's 08 C30 mirror cap. It should be decent if you follow the instructions and are patient. Lots of reflection for what it looked like and how it turned out. The first photo shows how dim it was on the driver's side before the painting.

Got it at Lowe's and use the primer that goes with it. Threw out the primer can already so don't have exact number. No way near the chrome on the cap.

I've used this type of tape in the car, under the hood besides the extremely cracked disintegrated wire cover and bare electrical wires of the headlights. Just wrap it without doing anything to the wires. It sticks to itself on either side and collapse into whatever shape you are trying to cover. There are better ones it seems looking at Amazon's pictures but this looks more like the poor quality one I purchased.

Purchased from Advance online the cheapest oil filter (FRAM, I know

) locally as I didn't need any other parts. The only 2 filters were in boxes that were completely cut across and through two side. Glad I opted for the $6.99 CarQuest R84021. It has a thin O-Ring in the center hole on the filter. I don't think I'll go back to the composite tops with the compressible fiber seals.

Most online photo of the CarQuest filter shows the fiber seal for some reason. The 3 legged wrench just loosens but can't tighten and I left the 20" channel locks at my folks. Found a large hose clamp and a borrowed a pair of small channel lock from neighbor to motivate the clamp's gear housing around and around to tighten. Every 1/2 a turn had to release and reposition
