Anyone in Michu with Vida/dice for some help

Post by Dgrabke »

Got a 2001 v70 at auction. Going to be doing some trans work and looking for someone in Michigan that may be able to help with some software downloads and putting into adapt mode.

Software downloads require an actual subscription to VIDA. Usually that would be a trip to a dealer. There might be someone online who can offer the service. All of us home DIY’ers use a … “local” version Adaptation mode is possible through the local one.

For the software do you just want to make sure everything is up to date? Any service, even simple like an oil change, done at a dealer includes “service 2.0” which is a full system update for our cars. I got this done when I had some warranty work done (although I had to request it).

Thanks. I realized a subscription was needed. I would be willing to pay. Just wanted to avoid the dealership if possible. But yes, wanted to make sure everything was up to date and I’m switching out the valve body. Thank you for service 2.0 heads up. It actually hasn’t had the airbag recall done. Do you know if they would update software (if needed) when that is performed if requested? Pretty sure it hasn’t been updated. I think the neutral/stop hasn’t even been disabled.

if you own a laptop you ought to buy your own version of vida.
I got the USB stick version for $100.
A mongoose interface, cheaper than dice, is also a good choice.

Yes that’s the perfect excuse to go to the dealer- I got service 2.0 during warranty work after I requested it. Definitely request it! Jones has a good source for VIDA- getting up and running yourself is easy and cheap using his solution.

How close are you to Detroit? I’m just across the river.

Close enough. I’m in Brighton. Grew up just North of Detroit. I wouldn’t mind setting myself up, but it just seemed so convoluted and seems to work best on a WIN 7 machine. Is it not that difficult? I’ve read there are some WIN 10 patches.

It's clunky to get running on Windows 10. There are guides posted but it does require some mucking about and configuration. RHP's thread is here : viewtopic.php?t=97268

If that isn't your bag, pay the premium and pick up a stick from jonesg suggestion : https://diaglaptops.com/wp/dice-units/

Lots of thread information regarding the hardware to get it up (I use the Mongoose JLR Pro)

We wanted to camp up at the Brighton State park this summer but never got around to it.

Shoot! I didn’t realize he had them for sale. I pulled the trigger and bought one already.

yeh smart move,

I'm elec illiterate and it was simple enough, you just change the boot seq in your laptop to load OS10 from the thumb drive instead of the internal drive. It comes preloaded with its own WIN10 sys on the thumb drive. Doesn't matter what sys the laptop uses as long as you install enough memory to run vida. maybe 8 mb?.
