When they hit us, it was on the pass front corner. Busted the lights and trim on that side and popped the upper and lower bumper covers apart a bit. Didn't bend any sheetmetal. Caved in the nose of the Prius and folded the radiator back on the engine.

While the cop was there getting the report, I reached down and popped the bummer pack together with a couple smacks of my hand.
He looked at the other driver and just said "duuude", while motioning at what I'd just done. We drove the car to our plans that night. The Prius was towed away.

An Oetiker clamp is best here, but you need to be able to get the pliers in there, which is the next challenge.

Gotta love a Volvo! That seems to be the case in most collisions.

Ordered some new LED highbeams and went to a picnpull today for my partners car. Today was the grand opening yet all the turbochargers were gone :P

Picked a power steering pump, alternator, and coil packs for her car as spares. Found some nice xenon lights and some philips 9006 as spares. Got burned on picking up some led lights i found in a dodge (should have been my first indication something was wrong). Ordered some a spare set of xenon lights for my car to last through the winter.

Did a teardown of a honda starter and found it completely ate through its brushes to lead to failure. Starter probably had 300k km.

Need to find time to swap to winters as the cold is starting to set in. The rust proofing treatment seems to be holding up for now so will see how it goes through the winter.

I've checked coolant hoses. Little question. Can we use something different than these"f*%/0#1" torx bolts for the thermostat ?

Sure, many here have swapped in bolts pulled from other places on the car, gotten from salvage cars. I had considered simply buying bolts from the hardware store, but found that the original bolts on my car were in good condition.

I would think Allen head (internal hex) bolts would be the best, as a ball end Allen key (hex key) could be used for installation or removal.

Checked some used part yards and the 80$ turbo listed on the pic site sits at a nice a reasonable 1000$ cad :P

Was hoping to extract the turbo or atleast see one for learning purposes but that will have to wait for another day.

Sometimes I think you are lucky. There are no junkyards with lots of Volvos in them where I live...

I’ve also swapped them with the hex bolts from the thermostat. They work great!

Yesterday, a little Nissan pulled into the left lane from the median while I was in the way to my kid’s soccer game, and I had to swerve into the next lane to avoid smashing into them. Terrifying for me, but the boys didn’t get scared, thank goodness.

I also started the ‘04 XC90 T5 and got misfires on cylinders 3 and 5. I’m guessing it’s time for new plugs and coils. What joy!
