Sveedy wrote: 26 Nov 2022, 09:11 Well I've never seen that light, but it's the Lambda symbol, so I'm guessing something to do with O2 system. And that hose might belong on your vacuum tree. It kind of looks like you have an open port on it in the picture pointing at the idle air control hose, but hard to tell. And the idle air control does make a slight noise when functioning.
Lambda light is EU spec Volvos CEL(in U.S).

LH Jetronic management should have EGR.

Mine is M 4.4.

That actuator which is near distributor on your car is at fan shroud on mine and it's part of SAS system which your car doesn't have .

No.13 on that diagram should be EGR...actuator(i.e square cube) should be electronic control for the EGR and the "lost" vacuum hose should go to a vacuum tree.

Check if there is a vacant port in the vacuum tree.

My 96 860 NA does not have that "C" cube/box attached to the air box, although the molded boss is there. I'm sorry, that's not any real help.

Exhaust gas recirculating on EU models. I don’t think it ever was on North American models.

Not to be confused with Supplemental Air System thst was worldwide.

Sas..pumps air into the exhaust manifold to ignite and burn excess fuel on cold starts

EGR…recirculates exhaust gas to replace 10% of the combustion air to reduce combustion peak temperature

So.
I've found this part ("C") Secondary Air System Control Solenoid Air Pump Valve Sas on the diagram upper, from it I have a hose that links "22" on the diagram, and I have to find where this cruise control vacuum servo is located ? :

What part are you looking for? If it is #13 which is part of the cruise control, I think that is by either your gas pedal or clutch/brake pedal under the dashboard. If I recall there is something up there in the older P80's. That actual pump that operates the cruise control used to be mounted under the battery tray.

If you look at that parts drawing #21 which is a 'T' connector, does the pipe you have go directly to #17 or does it go to the filter/valve and then the 'T'. If it is that pipe then that I believe goes to connector #24 which should have a 90 degree rubber end on it and connect to the vacuum tree. If that is the case it is not only broken at the free end of the hose you have which maybe should be a90 degree rubber hose fitting.

This is hard as European cars and NA cars often had these detail differences on how they run.

I hate to give up but it is way easier to fix when you are beside the car than from 6000km away and making best guesses.

In the last picture on this thread there is a random white plastic pipe with a black rubber end on it near the red arrow end at the edge of the picture. It looks like it may go to the vacuum tree area?

viewtopic.php?t=10485

I would have thought that if you could get the car to a dealer they may be able to figure it out, assuming they have any mechanics left who remember these older cars.

I still think it would be a good idea to follow each pipe from the vacuum tree and see where it goes. Take a picture of which pipe at the tree end and what it goes to. If nothing else, we will at least be able to eliminate there is any errors there.

I have another thought (can't guarantee it is a good one) but the smoke test may help identify what is not connected.

Last thing, is there a fuel regulator on the injector rail with a vacuum connector on the bottom of it by any chance? It will be hard to see, you may need a bendy mirror on a stick to see it. Sorry, been a long time since I worked on an 850 that old!

Is there a connector on the throttle body? On the bottom of it near the number 34a?
