Electric Climate Control issue 99 V70

I have an issue with the recirc blend door on my 99 V70T5. It has the ECC system.

I have an issue that I posted before with my recirc servo not operating correctly. I got another one from scot850 and it does the exact same thing. I have attached a link to another video. This one has some narration.

What happens is when you press recirc button the servo turns as you would expect. When you switch to fresh air, it goes about half way and then starts to go the rest of the way in a stepped motion. So we have determined it must be in the ECC.

I have none of the tell tell flashing lights on any of the buttons showing it has an error. Also, the battery has been disconnected many times and for a VERY long time on a number of occasions since I have had the car. And this issue has not changed. When I say long, a month at times.

Any suggestions on how to proceed would be most helpful. I did just get a diag laptop with vida and a dice unit if that will help me doing anything. If anyone has a spare ECC they could loan me to test with that would be great also.

This has me baffled. I have spare ECC units, assuming I have the right one, but it is expensive to ship from here unless we are sure the ECC is the likely cause. We tried changing the motor as that is cheap, but I was not convinced in my mind it was the issue and now it has proved the case, but at least we have now eliminated the motor and the cold air flap as the issue.

My other thought is it could be the calibration on the motor is out. I can't recall how that is done. Advice/guidance please!

You have to be really careful on A 99 to replace the motor back inthe same position as original. Jimmy has warned us if calibration is lost it’s possible to totally brick the ECC control unit

At the moment the motors not connected to anything. The behavior is the same disconnected as it was connected. And with either motor.

Oddly enough the arm was disconnected from the servo by the PO. So something was obviously going on with it.

Any ideas how to calibrated the ECC? I also have a DICE unit and VIDA if needed. Just need some direction on how to/what to look for ot calibrate.

Also want to note I don't have any blinking lights on the climate control like I have seen other posts on the net about.

Robert has a piece on calibration here. Looks like he is using some old school Volvo diagnostic tool which is the precursor to Vida/Dice.

It may help but unfortunately he does not seem to complete the process for some reason.

Be careful not to run the calibration in VIDA if you don't have the right info or this too will brick it.

I too don't have it. I have heard a rumor of a calibration box, but haven't seen one. I do however have a collection of bricked ECCs. When it happens, it's like the A->D chip loses it's ability to sense but I'm guessing it's actually a EPROM value that gets wiped. Then you get 0% readings across all of the motors.
