04 v70 bcm codes

Post by jonesg »

I got a service abs system dialogue with the red ABS light, abs seems to pulse quickly when I'm stopping normally.
BCM codes from VIDA are 0011, 0012, 0031, 0041.

0012 is left front mechanical error, all the others are faulty signal.

This past Sept I ran the car in D with the front wheels off the ground to trace a humming sound to a bad front bearing , pass side.
the rear wheels were on the ground, AWD is disabled.
I suspect this would set a code because all 4 wheels were not turning.

Cleared the codes for now, I'll drive it in the morning to see if they come back.
Does my reasoning sound feasible.?

I checked the 30 amp BCM fuse and brake fluid, all good.

Sounds reasonable.

BCM (and other computers in general) may also fall into a logical state not thought after by the programmers. I had it in couple of occasions, while messing with the CAN buses. You may need to disconnect a battery for 5 mins.

Here we go, this might be the cause, something went missing.
Who knows how long I drove it like this. Front driver side, this is where I was getting an ABS fault . duh.....

slight noise on bumps, hard to pin down from just the noise.
I didn't really hear much until after finding the bolt was gone. Then I noticed every little rattle.

Those soft bolts don't require much torque but wonder how it popped out. Did it break off from the stud?

When I first did them on my P2 I broke that soft bolt. Had to extract it then rethread it.

I don't think it snapped, I'll find out soon enough.

Harbour freight torque wrench, should be called talk wrench.
You can guesstimate torque better than this thing.

Volvo used to sell axle bolts with rubber cone on them.

Here you go, an aftermarket one: www.amazon.com/MTC-171021-30714142-Insu ... B01CGOFX68
