I wonder what the percentages look like given the number of parts they have scattered around the globe compared with success stories.

Props to FCP. One of my 850s has been sitting for a year and we ran it around and the cam seal was leaking from sitting. Ordered a new cam seal 1 day shipping the automatic system said it wouldn't get here til after the weekend. FCP sent me a shipping confirmation at like 2:50AM and it was here in like 24hrs even during peak holiday shipping.

A few weeks ago I posted asking if any currently available part could substitute for 9135040 on my 850:

viewtopic.php?t=101304

At that time IPD had nothing and the ebay options were all in Europe and required expensive shipping to arrive before April. The only NOS parts were in Lithuania for over $100 plus shipping. so I set out to reinforce the one that had crumbled in my hands with JB Weld and fiberglass. After about an hour of degreasing with a toothbrush and naphtha I decided to try google one more time and it turned out that IPD had them in stock. Aftermarket, of course, meaning "pro" parts Sweden.

I expected something craptastic, and pro parts never disappoints, as the pictures show. I'm glad I can't see this thing when I open the hood.

Delphi MAF for my 1991 740 Turbo is excellent quality. The design inside looks close to the original Bosh that came off. It plugged in and worked perfectly! I noticed most aftermarket parts looked poorly made. I would have bought the Volvo unit from FCP Euro, but they are just too slow. For $37 extra charge for one day shipping still wouldn't be to me for 5 days... 1 day should be just that... FCP Euro would have been nearly 2 weeks for free shipping on the Volvo part. AutoZone had the Delphi MAF by 3:00 the next day! The other two big box stores had cheaper looking parts. I did have the original Volvo part on my car to compare the pictures giving me a advantage choosing a aftermarket part. June

Shipping has become the biggest issue these days. When I used to buy from FCP and Tasca I could get parts to Calgary Canada in 2-3 days and sometimes quicker. Today I can still get some parts quickly for the US but seldom buy there now as shipping has got stupid expensive from US to Canada with shipping often way higher than the parts prices.

USPS is a total joke with ludicrous shipping prices and losing 2 shipments in the last 2 shipped. They both eventually turned up but they lost tracking in LA both times. Both took 2 weeks or more.

I can get parts from Europe quicker than part from US!

I now mostly buy my car parts in Canada as they are usually way cheaper from Volvo than the suppliers in US and often with free shipping over $75 Canadian.

Glad to here the 740 continues to improve June!

I just received this Volvo brand front wheel bearing dust shield labeled as made in China. Just 9 months earlier in 8/22, I bought two labeled as made in Germany. Both came from FCP. And yes, the 5/23 Chinese one cost 35% more than the 8/22 German one due to inflation. No cost savings from the supposed cheaper cost of manufacturing.

You may want to check the country of manufacture on Volvo compared to aftermarket parts if you suspect that affects quality.

I'm glad Volvo is still making parts for cars which are at least 23 years old, even if they're reducing cost to keep it profitable. Let's hope the quality remains.

Unfortunately, I am finding the quality is reducing, and also the standards Volvo used to have in place seem to be slipping. As you point out the prices are getting more stupid. The local Volvo dealers are selling the parts way over the quoted MSRP prices on the various on-line dealer web-pages. Other than for those who have their cars repaired there, they are seldom going to sell me any parts. I called to see if either of the local dealers had a cabin filter in stock. In fairness, a 22 year old car, but no. Yes they can order it, and I may get it quicker than buying out of Vancouver Volvo and their shipping, but the price is 40% higher!! ($30 v's $50). Ludicrous for a piece of plastic and paper made in China. I only replaced that about 1500km ago but with the endless forest fires here the thing is black already with ash.

Speaking of quality parts, I ran across a URO glass headlight replacement lens at ipd. Do you suppose it's even the right shape?
