My Constant Thorn '99 manual left me walking two weeks ago. It's not something I tolerate well; this cars' days are numbered now.
The hard pin on the clutch pedal that operates the clutch master broke off in the pedal itself, pedal hit the floor, shoe leather for me, rollback for it. I found the part number - it's the same for all S/V manuals '98-'00 - did the search for the usual vendors for getting a "Classic" part, and settled on TASCA. I placed the order early AM eight days ago.
I have been back and forth with them a few times since, both through their 'chat' thing, and by email with customer service, trying to see if they can actually get the part, since Skandix shows it NLA. Nothing was mentioned about any issues on their end --- until this morning.
I got an email asking for my VIN number. It was not immediately obvious why, although I had asked about availability of the bushings common to both pedals, just out of curiosity. After quite some time going back and forth on their 'chat' thing again, and several more emails with "Amy" in customer service it was obvious they haven't even ordered the part yet.
This is my daily driver, and the spare is just that, so there is some urgency here; I realize this is an uncommon part on an older car, so some time would be required to get the part, likely from Sweden. With their new pretend timeline, the car will have been down a month.
Needless to say I am very disappointed.
A new vendor has been chosen. I have learned a valuable lesson.

Is the pin a standard diameter in metric or inches? Could a standard size solid pin or roll pin be used as a replacement?

Undetermined. I don't bend in enough places anymore to crawl under the dash too often, so I'll wait until the new pedal arrives, then do a post-mortem. My great disappointment in TASCA isn't the timeline for delivery from Sweden, it is the fact that they deliberately sat on my order, taking no action at all, for eight days.
I'll post here when the piece is in hand, and start another thread if I can do the fix on the broken pin.

That is unfortunate. I used to use Tasca for a long time but did have a few issues with them over the years, but nothing unfixable. Generally they were good, but again if you pay peanuts you just get monkeys unfortunately. I stopped using then when USPS and UPS almost doubled their shipping and the $ went from close to even to now $1 CDN = $0.73 US. Also, now I find with on-line dealers here in Canada, the prices are generally cheaper and free shipping and no border charges.

It's worth considering here that there is a nationwide
lack of butts to fill seats at a lot of establishments.
If Tasca is experiencing what a substantial number
of other businesses are trying to find employees,
they're probably swamped. I hear it from my
customers and suppliers everyday.

They didn't even respond to my email questions in all that time, nor had they actually started the process to get the part shipped from Sweden. VP is a much smaller operation, and they responded to my last order in a timely fashion, and answered my email sent on a Friday first thing the following Monday.
They can dance all they want, the clutch pedal order was placed with another vendor.

In my experience, Tasca is very slow and terrible with communication. Yet, they can sometimes get obscure parts and their prices can be very good (I got new OEM jewel headlights for $60-$100 less than anywhere else). I only use them for parts I'm confident they can get when the price is significantly less than anywhere else.
My strong recommendation is to buy obscure parts from usparts.volvocars.com as noted in this sale thread. Using dealership pickup, you may get an additional 10% off and they have good sales during US holidays. They'll get the parts in a reasonable time frame, including Volvo Classic Parts. If you really need something odd, ordering direct from gcp.se (Genuine Classic Parts in Sweden) might also work.

Tasca has always been slow, poor to communicate, and generally poor on customer service. And really gouges on shipping. I realize they still work out for some people but I moved on from them a long time ago.

VP is Sweden based, they seem to have bought some NOS inventory years ago and blossomed from there, but mostly legacy stuff.
