Can I Change My Own Voltage Regulator? 1998 v70

Would this be easy to change or very hard to change?

I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

It’s possible and hard with the alternator on the car.

It’s easy with alternator on bench

It’s imperative you disconnect the battery either way, for safety

Oh ok, i understand. Too bad, i wanted to see if the charging voltage changed with a new regulator.
The alternator does not look too easy to remove, so maybe some day :-)

It can be done on the car, but it's much easier if a few things on the front of the engine are removed for access.

Having a "tucked" cooling fan also grants a bit more room.

I bought a regulator for my 850, but have yet to actually try replacing it. It looks very fiddly due to it's position and things being in the way.

Alternator service is good to consider along with 5 cylinder PVC service.

Can you power the computer through the OBDII connector as usual then, or does that also still power the alternator?
If it does power the alternator, is there a fuse you could pull to prevent that?

Yes it looks kind of tight in there. My old Hyundai was much simpler.
