1992 245 transmission wont shift into fourth gear (Automatic

My 92 245 will not engage into fourth gear. The OD light comes on and off whenever i depress the OD button, but most of the time the OD will stay stuck (no light on). It just wont shift into fourth?
Does the solenoid go bad/stuck activated?

If it never does, it could be the relay or the wiring near the shift boot...sometimes it gets chaffed. Mine on the '91 240 will go into OD when warmed up but not before- I suspect the solenoid and will need to either replace it or bore it out (then it always will shift into OD, but no shifting down).

It does shift sometimes. Also whenever I activate the switch, the indicator liight responds, but the tranny doesnt,

Mine does the same thing and I believe it's the solenoid.

Solenoid or relay.

The relay is in the centre of the dash just left of the glovebox.

Thanks Bill...I need to do this with mine.
Since it's intermittent and tends to work when the car is warmed up I'm leaning away from the relay and towards the solenoid.
