Re: Junk Yard DO NOT LEAVE Parts
Another addition to this list... newer Volvo contactless ETMs. They started manufacturing these around 2013, IIRC. The label looks like this, rather than the older white or yellow Magneti Marelli labels.

I have a white sticker that says made in sweden.bmdubya1198 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2020, 09:00 Another addition to this list... newer Volvo contactless ETMs. They started manufacturing these around 2013, IIRC. I'm not sure, it's totally possible though that they also made them in Sweden. Mine is made in Italy.

Just found a photo of mine from when I pulled it out of the junkyard. I'm assuming the 35 2016 is manufacturing week and year? This might be one of my best junkyard finds if it's already been updated as a contactless. Cost me maybe $35 and didn't need to be programmed.

Yes, that's a contactless one. Nice find! I paid around $45 for the 2013 or 2014 date code I found for my car.
I guess the switched to manufacturing them in Sweden later on.

This is so funny and so true, I'm like I better crab those elbows there still good for those stinking vac. leaks , and relays and hoses. I know relays are a hit and miss but I think I'm doomed every time with "I better grab that one". Lol I love the juck yard. It's my education class. I try and be ever so careful bc someone else just might need what's behind anything I pull.....fuel pumps also.shoot I could go on forever with this post, Have A good pull today guys.

Would you recommend taking the brake booster, master cylinder, brake fluid reservoir, ABS unit, and (not rebuilt) ABS module? I found a 1999-2000 V70 with the engine out, leaving these quite accessible. Are they easy to remove? What price should I pay for this whole bundle?
What fuel pumps and neighboring parts are worth taking? They seem reasonably easy to access from the trunk of a V70, maybe easier with a hacksaw. What price should be paid for these?
I ask about prices because I find there's room for negotiation at the junkyards I've visited. The brake parts are on a car which is "on its way to the crusher", so me taking those parts is free money for the yard. I'd hate to pay much since I don't need them, but would like to save them from a crusher.

Pricing depends on the junkyards. Up here in Calgary, we only have fixed price junkyards. Most things are listed on line so you can look them up on your phone when at the junkyard before pulling stuff or ask the staff. Perhaps look up if you have a Pick-n-Pull yard in your area or in NYS, I think there is at least one, maybe 2. On there they list the price of most of the parts and you may at least be able to get a feel for the pricing. I used to enjoy going to the old style junkyard where negotiation was allowed.
As to what parts to pull, well that is hard to say as it is hard to know if something is a replacement part or the original often until you get it out. A 25 year old pat will likely be no better than what you have.
A refurbished ETM or new one with the contactless points is worth having. Is a 25 year old brake booster worth or master cylinder worth having, especially where your life is concerned? Used brake calipers and drive axles possibly as chances are if they are not totally corroded they may be replacements and if not seized worth having.
It is hard to recommend what to take or not. It really comes down to balancing the replacement cost of a new part (if still available), v's is the part a safety critical part.
Good luck with your hunt!
Neil.
