Ian Tyson, 89, passes in Alberta
The first live music I ever saw was Ian and Sylvia, at a tiny little club in DC called The Cellar Door. I was in high school, with a fresh drivers license and no money, but their second album "Four Strong Winds" had just been released, and I had to go.

The title song went on to be covered by over 35 acts, and there is a Volvo connection - of a tenuous sort; it was translated and a big hit in Sweden, "Mot okänt land", recorded by Hep Stars.
Johnny Cash and Neil Young both recorded it and included it in show set lists for years.
