V50 T5 B5254T Engine removal

Post by Fosgate »

Hi Everyone,

I got this 2010 Volvo V50 T5 which has an over heated engine, I was hoping it would be warped head that can be shaved of but looks like the warpage is on the block between the cylinder walls.
I think the best way to resolve this issue is to install another good engine rather then rebuilding this one. My question is, is it possible to remove the engine on its own from the top or do I need to remove it along with the transmission (Auto)?

I don't have a hoist so it would be very hard to lift the car high enough to drop the engine with transmission from the bottom...
So wondering if anyone has any experience with this?

Thanks

Buy a hoist/crane and lift the engine and tranny out as one package.

Yeah I got an engine crane thats not an issue just trying to work out if I can remove the engine on its own from the top or both need to come out together with transmission.
Also does any know if the front support panel of these cars can be unbolted and the engine with transmission slide out from the front?

Thanks
