Front Struts 2008 XC90 V8

Post by rpritsch »

Hi to All. I'm looking to replace my front struts. My current ones are original, 178k miles Sachs I believe. I'd like something more compliant. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Anything should be more compliant compared to worn-out or blown struts. Sachs replacements have been found to be too loose for the V8 weight. Bilstein Touring B4s are a great replacement strut. Remember that you also want safety. Have you changed any of your other front suspension parts? These can also cause poor riding, handling, and control.

I installed Bilstein B4 struts in Nov. 2019. It is a good strut, not too soft, not too hard.
Just about right.

At your mileage of 178K miles, I'd overhaul the entire front end suspension.

Superb! Felt like I was peering over a mechanic doing the work while explaining to me what he was doing and I remembering what he did and said :D .
