No. On the intake, just past the throttle body. It is usually hidden under the cover over the throttle cable attachment.

I wonder if it would make any sense to pull the connector off the ECT sensor and plug in a potentiometer or resistor in its place for testing.

One screw clamp at the throttle body. It is also easier to remove the cover (one screw over the vacuum tree) to get at the accordion screw clamp. You would be amazed at how much gunk is on the butterfly valve in the throttle body anyway, once you get clamp and tube off.

The vacuum tree is the plastic piece that fits in the top of the intake manifold and has multiple vacuum ports. It's on the right on my 96.

You can see it in the middle of the right edge of this picture. Right were that white vacuum line comes into the picture. You need to remove the cover that's over all of this mess to get at it.

I'm also going to suggest (re)checking the ECT sensor and connector. I had a bad one that really gave me fits when it was cold. It ran marginally bad when it was cool, but when it got cold, it wouldn't start, and was unhappy with any attempts to make it start.
