Hello MVS forum. I am trying to help a fellow Volvo owner. he broke off the fuel filler door on a 1994 940 in 189-21 white. (bracket is off back of door)
the P/N on the door is 3526601. When I type this into searches I get a control arm?
The reason I posted in this part of the forum is b/c it looks like that door can fit 84-92 740, 82-90 760, 91-95 940, 91-92 940SE, 92-97 960, 97-98 S90 and 97-98 V90 vehicles.
Can I use a fuel filler door from an 850?
Anyone have any leads for a white fuel door that would fit?
Thanks in advance.

As you know the part number is listed as NLA on Volvo parts sites. As Volvo have retired the part number it may be why you see it listed for something else.
I found the part on a couple of Volvo sites still listed under that part number but both show it as 'Contact your dealer', that may mean it is available from Volvo Classic or they have just not updated their websites.
The 2 websites I looked at only list it as for the 940/960 ranges only. The shape looks more square than that of an 850 or any other P80 car.
Best chance is to contact Volvo specialist breakers like Erie Vo-Vo and see if they can help you. I rarely see any of the old box shaped Volvos any more in the junkyards around here.
Neil.

No sure what is broken or missing on the bracket but from my experience with the 2000 S70 fuel door and other plastics you can use a combination of hot glue, baking soda, super glue and other adhesives to potentially obtain solid repairs.
On our 03 Honda Odyssey the coolant overflow plastic tank was rubbed through by the accessory belt when it was removed for another repair. Was sitting on the belt when the car started. It is not an expansion tank so no pressure. With a little sanding and 97% alcohol cleaning and a larger hot glue gun I layered it on and around the large hole. Going on maybe 4 to 5 years now?

Erie Vovo might even have one in the correct color.
Fuel doors are available (used) on eBay. If you watch long enough, one in the correct color should show up - or you could just paint one with a rattle can.
Aftermarket plastic hinges (the plastic hinges often break if you live in a place that doesn't allow self-service gas, like New Jersey) are available on Amazon.
The SVC 70 fuel doors and the 740-940 fuel doors look different to me.

Thanks for all this input. I am pretty sure the S70 and 850 doors don't fit, but was looking for confirmation. I have already reached out to erie vo vo and voluparts and the ebay seller from the pic above, no white doors found so far. without waiting, it looks like white rattle can it is. although I am very tempted to try some adhesive

What am I missing? Why not just buy a new hinge?

Please upload a photo. You can also do a wrap which is much easier than paint. Hair dryer for the edges will do, no need for a heat gun.

Ok, I had to do an Ebay search... apparently the whole 940 fuel door is plastic. The P80 doors are steel with plastic hinges.
