2000 front seats in a 1998?

Post by FireFox31 »

Can front seats from a 2000 V70 work with full function and safety in a 1998? I'm specifically concerned about the side impact airbags, seat heaters, and power seat adjustment. Is the wiring compatible and will the airbags trigger correctly? Thanks.

Check with the good Doctor Abscate, he has been down this path before.

Sips airbags will not work.

'98 have mechanical sips airbags where '99+ have srs system controlled sips airbags.

Misha and his Siberian Huskies win the day

You can deskin them and move good leather over but I think the T5 deserves new leather

Is it possible to mount a 1998 side impact airbag in a 2000 seat? Or do the airbags match, requiring only a trigger mechanism to be swapped between SRS and mechanical? I have a set of 2000 side impact airbags loose to investigate but not any from 1998.

My 1998 seat has one spot of deep wear into the foam so I'd like to install my complete 2000 seat for its good foam. The 2000 XC70 seats I pulled from VA are good as new. I just wish I were keeping my 2000 to put them in. Would have been so easy.

Aren't the 'bags in the seat side bolsters ? Maybe if your area of concern is the seat bottom, that might swap as a bare assembly onto the frame. The Doctor has swapped skins, writeup on here someplace.
If the budget can stand it, Alex has skins now

I've mentioned these folks before, they sent a sample swatch to me years ago when I got the 850

The side impact bags change ftom 98 to 99. Different shape and mount.

the SRS module in the 98 won’t fire the 99 SIPs bags, no wiring will change that

You can swap the seat bottoms 98 99
