2007 V70 Sub frame clunk O-ring fix

Post by OliPhant »

Greetings,
My 07 V70 112k has had an exasperating clunking sound under floorboard for 1 year. Dealer has ruled out suspension, steering, and front end; the usual suspects. I’m 80% sure it’s slop in rear subframe attachments which Volvo’s TSB acknowledges and remedies by inserting O-rings above rear bushings. Has anyone done the O ring fix? I’d be interested in any perspectives offered. Thanks!

Try posting a picture so we can see what your looking at. O ring? Kinda makes sense, I guess like shimming it.. why not just replace the failed part?.. MDK

Thanks for reply. I'm referring to Volvo's repair guidance (TSB) to address knocking from rear subframe attachments with O-rings; a simple fix compared with replacing subframe bushings. The TSB specifies S80 but Volvo told me it's pertinent to V70s as well.
I'm planning to do this fix, and wanted to share this and hear if anyone else has done the same. Thanks,

If you could measure that o ring when you receive it - my dealer and overseas orders make two o rings over $100. I have a clunk clunk that is proving hard to find and would like to try this fix - thankyou for posting !

The required o rings and bolts are avail on IPD and elsewhere I’d think. IPD shows the o rings along with Volvos TSB guidance on what symptoms justify their use.

FCP and IPD are where I’m looking -including freight $60 USDollars is $100 New Zealand dollars- dealer wants nearly $150 nzd. I’m sure I can locate them locally for a fraction of that. No site seems to list the size details

Purchased from IPD and installed on our 03 S70 T6 a couple years back. They weren't very large. Perhaps these people can ship it to you cheaply. Just a bubble envelope would do.

I was just about to post the same thing. If your are not in a hurry I will buy that now and have it shipped to me. I'll see if it can fit in a larger letter envelope and check what the post office will charge. If it's too much I'll keep it for my 07 S60 2.5T and install it along with the blue inserts. PM me your address as it would appear on an envelope. I'll keep you posted  of the progress.
