2005 s60 R
Wastegate was removed.
Wastegate was put back on.
No reference was kept as to the position of the rod (aka the amount of tension).
QUESTION IS: is there anyway to find the correct position/amount of tension OTHER than any electronic tool or reader?

disconnect the actuator rod from the wastegate arm, pull the rod out and place it on top of the wastegate pivot with the wastegate fully closed, pull it far enough that a gap shows at the far side, away from the vacuum motor. Only a small gap is needed, its to provide some pre-tension and prevent the wastegate from rattling also. see this.
