Update: News about the mid-air in Dallas

Post by foggydogg »

As a life-long aviation enthusiast, airshow attendee, and licensed Commercial Pilot, this rare and tragic accident really affected me.
This poster on YT is a former Air Force instructor, C-141 command pilot, ANG C-130 pilot, current 777 pilot for American, and has been both a Reno air racer and an airshow participant. He posts in-depth analysis of aviation accidents, but never includes video of the actual wreck.
He personally knew several of the victims.

NTSB has published the preliminary report. The final is likely a year away.

Several of the points Mr. Browne raised in his first post are touched on - and inferred - in the report.

Oh I've watched some of his videos - he's very good. Nice clear explanations for us laymen.

I've been following this and wondered how in the world he was carving right into this bomber, and the videos implied he never saw him. The question then is why was he in that spot at that time. This video is pretty revealing.

NTSB preliminary, along with FAA audio, mostly seems to confirm Mr. Braun's earlier comments given his background in airshows and as a veteran air racer.
Three parts so far, the other two I may not have posted in order; other information is shown in the grey 'show more' box.

One of the fatalities was a line-check pilot that he flew with.

This mid-air was preordained during the airshow brief by the Air Boss. Veteran airshow pilots in that mandatory brief should have spoken up then; regardless, I doubt there will ever be another show like this - in Texas, anyway. If this rose to the level of criminal charges remains to be seen.
