2005 v70NAM56 Catherine curt trailer hitch

Installed with nary a hitch

Left side
Support muffler
Heat m12 bolts with propane, one minute
Zip off bolts, drop muffler bracket left side, 18 mm hex head

Right side
Heat bolts
Zip of 2 m12 18 mm hex head
Drop and discard rear tow eye receiver

Offer up hitch
Start one bolt right
Start one bolt left bringing up muffler bracket

Zip in remaining 4 bolts, 19 mm hex with lock and flat washers

About 30 minutes total

Some bolt physics.

6 M12 10.9 bolts. Shear strength is 50-75 kNewton or about 10-15,000 pounds each
Thread shear probably about half that

Rated hitch capacity 3500 pounds.

Nicely done. I actually used my hitch today. Rented a u haul trailer for $25 and did a dump/scrap metal run. Trailer weight about 1200lb and load was about 750lb. pulled just fine. My OCD is screaming at you to Buy a trailer receiver plug/cover!
