98 S70 popping on startup

If your rings are trashed, you would get low compression and be burning a lot of oil. Get the PCV serviced before driving much more. Don't want to blow a seal.

As for the noise, all I hear is what sounds like a belt slipping briefly. Then maybe a noise similar to one I was trying to diagnose on my S70 T5 years ago. Never figured it out. Only happened sporadically on cold starts. That engine eventually blew up years (80k miles) later. But the noise stopped suddenly after driving for a couple years.

Thanks for the reply, I've already talked to my mechanic and I'm going to get it all replaced, fortunately I have an extra car so my volvos gonna be a driveway queen a little longer. Also I'm hoping to get a lot more than only 80k more miles because I found a gem and it only has 112k as of right now, with the timing belt needing to be replaced at 120k so all is good here hopefully!!! Thanks again ill you know what happens
