1997 850 aftermarket headlight installation assistance

I purchased these aftermarket lights, they've got these additional wires at the bottom, does anyone know what these are for?

I suspect they are power to/from an LED ballast? But I don't really know.

I'd guess that they are for the halo rings, but that's just a guess. How are they supposed to work ? Parking, halo, low beam, high beam ?

As Sveedy says, do they supply any instructions on the order of the lighting? The Volvo light switch only has 2-3 settings depending how they are set up. In daylight, all off (or up here daylight running/marker lights), then sidelights/parking lights, then main beams. The first option is set by a small switch usually on the rear of the light switch unit.

They may have not set the halo lights up so that you have options. They could be wired up with the daylight running option when the light switch is set to off and run with or as the daylight lights, or set with the sidelight option I'm guessing. Nice lights!

The manufacturer recommends connecting them to the position lights, I believe in the US we call those running lights.

However, one YouTubeer recommends connecting them to the low beams.

Don't get the point of connecting to the low beams as you won't then really see the effect of them. Running lights makes sense. If you don't have running lights you should be able to change the setting on the back of your main light switch to get that option. I do seem to recall that in some markets this may not have been an option. There are probably guys with spares in their garages that may give one up if needed.

We have running lights up here and I have a few spares, but shipping is not cheap to US any more.

It would be nice if they could be wired to just come on with the parking lights. I seem to remember seeing a pic online of one like that.
But I think the halos were orange in that case. Very cool !
