Brake Assist and Anti-Skid lights still on?

Post by cgstrange »

First time to post. I've used this site and it's helped a lot. I bought a used 2010 XC90 and it had the brake assist and anti-skid warning lights on the dash. No check engine or anything like that. After a lot of homework, I replaced the Brake Pedal Position Sensor and the YAW Sensor today. However, the warning light is still on and the errors are still on the dash.

My mechanic said I might have to go to Volvo to get them to reset those errors. Is that correct? What's the general cost of these things?

Any chance you wrote down the error codes before replacement? Steering angle sensor is also a known "common" contributor to an anti-skid, always worth checking the specific BCM codes.

Believe the yaw sensor needs to be calibrated with the BCM after installation, someone who does this for a living can confirm. Dealer will charge 30 minutes to an hour for this (I'm guessing), ask them to do the module software updates if you end up there (Volvo Service 2.0, software updates are free).

I had a yaw sensor needing recal code on my kids 05 XC90, creating anti-skid message too. My Indy mechanic pointed me to the dealer…one hour of labor for $195.
