2008 C-70 Boot Lid Won't Close During Opening Sequence

Post by richyoung87 »

I have a 2008 C-70 where everything works in the opening sequence except the boot Lid Won't Close and it gives an error message. After waiting a few minutes, I can start the closing sequence and the boot Lid closes and the top sequence completes except the windows don't do the final closing. The dealer said the Top Motor was losing pressure and needed replacement, which I did with a refurbished motor. The dealer mechanic said they did something and it might work a few times when I got it home. It worked twice. I then replaced the top motor myself, and it worked two more times perfectly and then went back to the same problem of the boot Lid not closing during the opening sequence. So, I'm down $800 and still have an unfixed top. At least I've got a refurbished top motor. I don't have a diagnostic computer to check the Hall sensors. If it worked twice after the dealer played with it and twice after I replaced the motor, I'm thinking it can't be the motor, and I'm not sure about the #7 Hall sensor. Anybody had the same or similar problem and fixed it? Thanks

My research indicates the system will let you close the roof (or open) a predetermined number of times before the control unit says no more. According to the technician you can pull battery power to clear the control unit and get operational again.
