How may one reset the service light on the 2007 Volvo S60 (T-5)? When the ignition is turned on, the message on the dashboard display reads "Time for regular maintenance," which may be bypassed temporarily by pressing the end of the display control handle on the left side of the steering wheel, but the message keeps reappearing upon turning off the ignition.

Resetting the Service Maintenance Reminder on a 2007 Volvo S60 (T-5)

The message, “time for regular maintenance,” will appear in the instrument panel display window when the engine is scheduled to have an oil change. The message may be erased temporarily by pressing the button at the end of the display control handle by the left side of the steering wheel. When the engine is turned off the message will reappear. Erase the message before starting the reset procedure as follows:

Place the key in the ignition and turn the key to position I.

Press and hold the reset button under the odometer display (T1) on the instrument panel and immediately turn the key to position II.

The service reminder message will appear, and the yellow triangular light in the bottom center of the instrument panel will glow.

When the yellow light starts to blink, quickly release pressing the odometer reset button before the light stops blinking.

The message will disappear, even after the key has been removed, and the service maintenance reminder has been reset.

(Note: the above procedure was obtained by trial and error since I had no success using other methods I had learned in response to my initial inquiry. When I later browsed through the multitude of forum comments, I found Patrick Henry's forum message, May 16, 2008, was identical. Sorry I failed to see it earlier. Thanks for letting me have my first time use of matthewsvolvosite.com.)

Thanks for the how-to and welcome to the board. It always seems to be some variation on the timing. I do not know if this is indeed the case, or if it is just our perceived timing that messes things up. I have never heard the "beep" that others talk about. None the less, your method seems to be close to the procedure for my car. Which in turn is close to the ones posted in the link I provided.

I also have a 2007 S60 (and a 2001 S60) and the trick of this reset is all in the timing. It does indeed work but you have to time it just right. On one of the cars, the warning triangle flashes to indicate its cleared, on the other its when the odometer clears that it clears. Its all in the counting 1-2-3 etc.

It took me several tries to get it to work and I was doubting the procedure until I realized my timing was off.

For my 2005 XC90 2.5 with 127K miles...
- This is not my first time doing this but many attempts at youtube and other sources failed to reset the light!
- Then I came across this thread and voila, problem solved! Just release the trip odometer immediately
after the 3rd blinking light. The light will go on to the 4th then stop.

All good now...

Try this...
Turn ignition to slot I.
Press and hold odometer stick.
Turn ignition to slot II.
Wait until the yellowtriangle appears, and release the stick after it flashes three times.
(it will actually flash four or five times, but you have to release it after three).
Then it will beep and let you know it's done.

Glad you nailed it... I went bonkers recently trying to do the same with my 07 V70. Tried many hacks, no joy. I followed this fellow's sequence. DONE! Till the next time at least.
